At Monday night’s Barnard Student Government Association representative council meeting, the representatives discussed potential changes to the SGA constitution, debated the amount of funding to allocate to club events, and got the word out about positive body images. We the people: The Constitutional Review Committee presented potential changes to the job descriptions of several representative council positions and pitched new positions in response to student needs. According to a CRC member, one new position, the Representative for Arts and Culture, came about in response to the dual-degree Juliard students who expressed a need for more music practice space.
Title troubles: When Loren Myers, GS ’16 and General Studies Student Council’s Four Council representative suggested that SGA re-title the new and renamed positions the same ones that exist at the other three councils to avoid confusion, several SGA representatives opposed the idea. Deborah Robertson, BC ’13 and Representative for Campus Policy said, “We have different needs than the other councils... It’s not like we have a loss of communication on that front. Issues get dealt with regardless of the name of the positions.”
