Ultimately, questions of how we use our environment involve both costs and benefits and deserve a rational view that I believe is lacking in our society in general, and in the liberal Columbia community in particular.

Columbia’s classes, especially the more liberal-artsy ones, have this delightful tendency to provide rather memorable first days. Self-directed racial epithets, charming/pathetic ‘Hey-I’m-cool-too!’ affectations, suffocating academese, etc.

NOMADS has nerve. Their playwrights have the nerve to submit original work to the scrutiny of student directors, producers, and actors. And their actors have the nerve to audition for plays they know almost nothing about.
