The Columbia Lions traveled to Ithaca this past weekend with the hope of extending their three-game winning streak. Unfortunately for the Lions, they were unable to return from upstate with a win as Cornell dropped Columbia 58-53, putting the Lions at 8-8 (1-1 Ivy).

In the team’s first weekend of collegiate competition, the Columbia fencing team came away with mixed results from its dual meets at St. John’s and NYU. More importantly, however, was that the Lions left Brooklyn and lower Manhattan with a positive attitude about the direction of the team.

On Saturday, Columbia’s men’s swimming and diving team traveled to Ithaca to face Cornell at Teagle Pool where the Lions were unable to keep up with the Big Red, falling 122-167. The loss brings Columbia’s record to 3-4 (1-3 Ivy) and improves Cornell to 5-4 (3-4 Ivy).
