On Saturday, the Columbia men’s soccer team suffered a devastating 4-2 loss to Yale at Reese Stadium in New Haven. The pain of defeat was intensified by the fact that several aspects of the game seemed eerily reminiscent of last year’s match against the Bulldogs on Oct. 27, 2007.

After Game 5 of the World Series was delayed multiple times—before the Fightin’ Phils finally knocked off the Rays in the final three innings—it is plausible to understand why some people may be entertaining ideas of moving the World Series to a neutral setting in the future.

As I was canvassing in Chester County, Pa. Sunday, a Mrs. Taylor replied to my requests for her to vote on Tuesday by asking me to stop by next week instead. Suddenly, hit with a heavy brick made of reality, I answered, “Ma’am, there is no next week.” Damn.
