Students returning to school last week may have noted the absence of John Jay Dining Hall's blue-and-white trays. In an attempt to lower its utilities costs and keep down the rising price of student meals, Columbia Dining Services did away with the trays during the summer.

The Columbia men’s soccer team journeyed to Wisconsin this weekend, taking on Big East opponents DePaul and Marquette at the Marquette Invitational. Both matches were low-scoring affairs, as Columbia lost 1-0 to DePaul on Friday and held Marquette to a scoreless draw on Sunday.

A small fire broke out on the sixth floor of the Barnard residence hall at 600 W. 116th St. early Friday morning. Everyone in the building was evacuated immediately, and no students were injured.
