It was a tremendous weekend for both the Columbia men’s and women’s golf teams at Ivy League Championships. The men won the championship title for the second time in program history, and the women came in a close second, only ten strokes behind first-place finisher Harvard.

This weekend, Columbia experienced another spring game with a quarterback on the sideline. Sophomore transfer Shane Kelly, who spent the season as backup quarterback, injured his knee last week and did not participate in Saturday’s annual Blue and White spring game.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the sixth inning, center fielder Nick Cox singled to third base and then stole second, putting a runner in scoring position with nobody out. After Cox, Jason Banos walked, Henry Perkins singled in Cox, and Mike Roberts doubled in Banos and Perkins.

After a strong showing against Cornell, the Columbia baseball team is one big weekend away from clinching the Gehrig Division for the first time in 15 years. The Lions took three of four from the Big Red this past weekend to extend their division lead to three games.
