Katie Simon’s April 4 letter to the editor, “Club Sports Demand Fair Treatment,” brought to light several policies beleaguering Columbia’s 45 club programs. Clubs are banned from using the word “team” to describe what they do.

Every time I saw the Nazi swastika printed on flyers around campus this week, the image provoked an immediate reaction of revulsion. For most of us, the swastika has an inherently violent connotation, linked to the Nazi regime and the exceptional barbarism of the Holocaust.

The Columbia baseball team mounted two comebacks in Tuesday’s bout with non-conference Rutgers. Third time would not be the charm, however, as the Scarlet Knights squashed a final potential Lions comeback in extra innings to take the game 5-4.

I went to see the Rolling Stones’ concert-film Shine A Light this past weekend, and even without having to later restrain a Spectator editor (who shall remain anonymous) from picking a fight with a gentleman at least double his weight, I found myself perplexed by the experience.
