In both games of its doubleheader against Harvard, the Columbia softball team was beaten by a final score of 10-3 in Cambridge, Mass to fall to 12-18 on the season, and 3-3 in the Ivy League.

Why should we feel, as Thoreau put it, a “duty to dissent” when protest is so often misunderstood or ignored? This was plainly the case last semester when a few of us resisted some of Columbia’s policies by fasting or by other nonviolent methods and largely failed to achieve our goals.

In the 2005 opening credo of AdHoc Magazine, Alex Jung (CC ’07) and I hearkened back to 1968. It was a clichéd reference and, in retrospect, not very applicable.

High energy physics might destroy the world. Or at least that’s the claim that has recently garnered a lot of press for the Large Hadron Collider, the new particle accelerator poised to start running in Switzerland this year.

Minghui Yu, a student in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, was hit by a car after fleeing an alleged assault Friday night, and subsequently died at St. Luke’s Hospital.
