Although it has only occurred three times, Barnard Night has become a proud tradition for the Columbia women’s basketball team. Out of the fourteen players on the squad, four are Barnard student-athletes.

Columbia geeks, look out. The Columbia University National Undergraduate Film Festival is back again, providing an outlet for creativity and experimentation. Founded in 2004 by Calvin Sun, CC ’08 and Brian Foo, SEAS ’08, the festival attempts to establish a stronger film base here at Columbia.

In recent years, few classic dramas have been staged Off Broadway. Those that have been are often overly modernized or altered to such an extent that the original dramaturgy is hard to find.

It was a night of contrasts on Valentine’s Day at Carnegie Hall. Violinist Joshua Bell and pianist Jeremy Denk made the 2,804-seat Isaac Stern Auditorium intimate, performing a selection of music from varying time periods and musical styles.

Was it a mistake to come to Columbia? Having amassed nearly $70,000 in student debt, it’s a nagging question. It’s impossible to put a price tag on my education thus far, but as I enter the job market, I am taking stock of what it has been worth in the grand scheme of things.

I want to write about something deeply personal. In my last two columns, I have written about the importance of “radical openness.” I have used this term to denote the willingness to compromise in dialogue and the ability to rethink ideologies we hold near to our hearts.
