When Ted Leonsis, vice chairman of AOL, was traveling in the Caribbean, he chanced upon a picture of Iris Chang in the obituary section of an old copy of the New York Times from 2004. Chang, author of the award-winning best-seller The Rape of Nanking, had committed suicide at the age of 36.

In October 2003, first-year Miriam Casper, BC ’07, hit it off with a guy she met at a friend’s party on the roof of Woodbridge Hall. A year later, she married him and moved to Queens. After 18 months, she gave birth to her son Benjamin.
One week later, she graduated magna cum laude.

The Columbia men's swimming and diving team is officially halfway through its season, and one Lion in particular has emerged to lead the pack. Junior Hyun Lee has proven his butterfly prowess, turning in consistent, strong performances thus far this season.

The Columbia indoor track team made a solid debut at the Yale Season Opener this past weekend. Competing in an unscored meet, the Lions managed to scoop up four wins while training veteran tracksters and preparing novice runners.

The Columbia women's swimming and diving team is off to one of the best starts in recent memory. The Lions competed in two meets this weekend and won both by significant margins. The Lions are now 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League.
