Columbia’s volleyball team went to New Haven this season with a list of grievances. For starters, the Lions had not had a win against an Ivy League opponent so far this season—none since October 27, 2006, in fact. Secondly, the squad has been in a losing slump for the month of October.

Amidst rain and wind, the Columbia women’s soccer team traveled to Hanover on Saturday to face Dartmouth. The two teams were alike in record, and by the end of the day the two were alike in score—after 110 minutes of play, neither team was able to break away, and a 1-1 tie was the result.

Two teams of opposing fortunes took the field on Saturday in Hanover, as men’s soccer’s swoon in conference play continued in a 2-1 defeat to the Dartmouth Big Green. The loss drops Columbia to 2-8-1 overall, and 0-3-0 Ivy League play.

The game literally slipped from the fingers of the Columbia football team on Saturday at Dartmouth, as it dropped its fourth straight contest, 37-28.

Columbia field hockey (8-6, 3-2 Ivy) won its Ivy matchup Saturday against Dartmouth (4-13, 1-4 Ivy) by a score of 2-0, but the Lions’ five-game winning streak was snapped in a 1-0 loss to Vermont (12-5) on Sunday.

Ray Rangel was slated to give Jordan Davis some rest in Saturday’s game against Dartmouth. The sophomore tailback had progressed enough that the coaching staff deemed him ready to make the move from special-situation player to every-down back.
