Sometime after he left Columbia’s homecoming game, Bob Kraft boarded a private jet and flew to Texas to watch his New England Patriots play the Cowboys. He was sitting in a skybox eating lunch with actress Kate Hudson when a CBS commentator mentioned Kraft’s recent donation to his alma mater.

There were a couple bright spots in Columbia’s 59-28 loss to Penn on Saturday--senior quarterback and co-captain Craig Hormann and sophomore wide receiver Austin Knowlin both had career days.

Columbia field hockey won a 1-0 nail biter in overtime against rival Penn (6-7, 2-2 Ivy) on forward Ariel Leon’s goal 8:40 into the sudden death overtime period. The Lions (7-5, 2-2 Ivy) pull into 4th place in the Ivy standings, trailing Princeton, Harvard, and Cornell.

It was a must-win game for both Columbia and Princeton if they were to keep their Ivy League title hopes alive—what they call in some parts of the world a “six-pointer.” But if Columbia’s chances were hurt a week ago against Penn, they were virtually dashed on Saturday in Princeton.
