On a crisp Saturday morning on the corner of LaSalle Street and Broadway, four teenagers stood in front of a storefront covered with graffiti, paint staining their hands. Two plainclothes police officers, their badges out, came up behind them. "Turn around," one of them said.

This time of year traditionally evokes feelings of gratitude and thanks. But, it is also a time when many students feel less than thankful for one of the administration's most unnecessarily annoying policies-holding classes the day before Thanksgiving.

Most students have already begun the Thanksgiving exodus from campus, packing their bags and returning home for a brief respite from the stress of classes. The men's basketball team has no such luxury, though.

They say that close only counts in horseshoes, but it counts in cross country, too. Unlike football or soccer, where there is a clear winner and a clear loser, being the second fastest runner in the nation is still regarded as a huge achievement, although it is not technically a win.
