With their only victories against teams whose combined number of wins is a mere 13, the Lions have taken their lumps against their tougher Ivy opponents . However, according to head coach Paul Nixon, the team's efforts are promising. He believes a breakthrough is near.

With only three wins on the season, Dartmouth was supposed to be Columbia's easiest opponent of their conference campaign. The loss sent Columbia to a 1-5 Ivy start, and now Columbia finds its season on the brink of disintegrating-for the second year in a row.
