Amidst talk of crazy cartoons, war, figure skating and medals, amid thoughts of papers and grades, one loses sight of what really matters: my hair. Curly and flowing now, it serves the double purpose of keeping me warm and reminding everyone what they have already gleaned from my name and nose.

Lee Bollinger came to Columbia in 2002 as the big-picture guy. Between Manhattanville expansion plans, star professors, and visions of a global university, Bollinger has drawn his presidency in broad strokes, and has thereby gained widespread approval.

They're out there. You probably know them. They're often found in the more radical student groups, but you don't have to look only there. They're all around campus, incognito, minding their business, attending classes, blending in.

You know, I never thought that I'd be saying this (especially in this space), but God bless the Columbia men's basketball team. For the past five days, the discussion of their amazing upsets over Princeton and Penn last weekend has dominated all other sports-related discussions on this campus.
