In its most successful weekend so far this season, Columbia track and field split its squad over two meets and produced a total of six post-season NCAA qualifiers. Conditions stayed decent until the latter events of the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton.

The Columbia Lions were taken down by Harvard on Saturday by a single point after a rough start and a surprising comeback, which almost took them into overtime. The Lions had trouble throughout the entire season with playing a full 60-minute game, and the Harvard game was no exception.

Chanbara-Japanese Sword Fighting Why did society ever abandon the duel as a healthy way of settling disputes, anyway? According to Tanabe Tetsundo, founder of the Japanese sword fighting art known as Chanbara, good old-fashioned honor should be enough to end a fight.

In March, word spread that Chuck Klosterman was booted (or quit a day late) from his big desk at Spin. Being that Klosterman is both my favorite pop culture critic and probably the best we've had in some time, this news should have struck me with some degree of melancholy.
