After a brutal four-day stretch last weekend during which the Lions dropped to 0-4 in the Ivy League, the women's volleyball team will have a chance to climb out of the Ivy cellar as they head on the road again this weekend, playing Penn and Princeton on Friday and Saturday.

I was scrolling through the new-fangled Columbia athletics Web site the other day and noticed that the men's golf team is competing in a tournament this weekend. It's their last one of the season. Which got me thinking: Who knew this tournament was happening?

The Columbia men's soccer team's near upset of Ivy-leading Penn last weekend will certainly be on their minds during their matchup against Princeton this Saturday at Baker Field. The Lions lost a double-overtime thriller to the Quakers in the 108th minute last Saturday.

In a race that could make or break their postseason, Columbia's premier cross country runners head to Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday for the NCAA Pre-Nationals. The rest of the team will compete at the Leopard Invitational in Eason, Pa. on the campus of Lafayette College.
