Every so often, some furious student group will come along and demand that Columbia's Core curriculum feature more dead minority figures. They argue that the Core is oppressive and exclusive, a who's who of dead white men. This is basically correct.

am pretty unabashed in my love for Dancing with the Stars. As a totally awesome perk from my mom's job at ABC, I have a big sleep shirt from the show that reads "Let's Get Ready to Rumba!" and I wear it pretty religiously.

Major Cultures was introduced to the Columbia Core Curriculum to give students a more global perspective and understanding. While this is an important goal, the current organization of and approach to Major Cultures just does not fit well into the rest of the Core Curriculum.
