There is a mistake in the inscription on the first building to greet visitors to the campus of Barnard College. Chiseled into the limestone cornice that sits atop four massive Corinthian columns, Latin block letters read "BARNARD." They ought to read "SCHIFF."

Herbert C. Spiselman, CC ’41, had two loves: traveling and, most of all, fencing. Supporting those loves, The Herbert C. Spiselman Memorial Endowment for Fencing was announced last Saturday in a ceremony before Columbia’s meets with Princeton, St. John’s, and Rutgers.
