My favorite New York song has to be ëSummer in the City' by the Lovin' Spoonful. I don't really know what to say about it.

As juniors, my cohorts and I live vicariously through our senior friends. We idealize a life of lease signings and budgets cut thrillingly short with a feeling somewhere between longing for that ideal life and relief that it has not yet begun.

Walking through Riverside Park the other day, I watched a young child of about five years, adorned in all possible crash gear, ride toward me on his bike. He teetered back and forth before finally falling to the ground.

Like Frank Sinatra, I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps. Though I have never put much stock in Sinatra (what kind of sell-out New Yorker writes a song about Chicago?), after living in New York, it's safe to say that I can never leave. Sure, Boston, D.C., and L.A.

After seeing Spider-Man, I want to be loved by a superhero. No ordinary man will do. I have never been the largest fan of Columbia men: most seem to be far too arrogant and not all that cool. But post-Spider-Man, they have fallen even lower in my esteem.
