Curtis Hanson's 8 Mile is not the "rags to riches" story of Eminem's rise to stardom that you might expect. Instead, 8 Mile is an enjoyable "slice of life" tale of a white rapper struggling to find his confidence and to gain acceptance in inner-city Detroit in 1995.
