Virtually every night, there is a story on the evening news about a scam. Usually it's something quite silly: a pyramid scheme, a fake government letter telling you not to pay your taxes, a photographer who takes wedding pictures and never delivers them.

In its first home meet at Uris Pool, the men's swim team annihilated Fordham 158-77, ringing up best times in every single event. The win came after a weekend in which the Lions were flattened by Harvard, 216-82.

 After their crushing defeat of Fordham, the women's swimming team can once again claim the honor of being the best in New York City. The Lions managed to continue their fantastic start to the season, beating Fordham 148-93 and moving to 3-0 on the year.

Women's cross-country closed out its season in fine fashion yesterday, placing 11th at the national championships in Terre Haute, Ind. The finish is the highest Columbia has ever achieved at nationals and solidifies its place among the best in the country.
