It's easy to let the school year become a drag. For us music lovers, shows shouldn't be the highlight of one's semester--they should be a commonplace activity, like reading or eating. Music lovers need nourishment as much as anyone who wants to indulge in his or her obsession.

Two years ago, and just five minutes before her Data Structures and Algorithms exam, a friend of mine realized that she did not know how to find the building where the exam would be held. She is a philosophy major, so Schapiro CEPSR (directly north of Uris) might as well have been on Mars.

While sitting in the Butler lounge the other night, I exclaimed--much too loudly--that I couldn't wait for Aretha Franklin to die. It was an irreverent thing to say, but, like most irreverent remarks, it had a purely selfish motivation.

Serving as a member of the General Studies Student Council has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my experience here at Columbia. I loved being a part of it and I'd like to write my last column with some parting thoughts on the GS experience.
