The future of Columbia athletics now officially rests on the shoulders of University President Lee Bollinger. After years of reporting to the provost, the athletics department began reporting directly to the Office of the President on July 1.

In looking for a new baseball coach after the departure of Mikio Aoki last week, Columbia turned to an old and familiar face. After retiring from the position five years ago, Associate Athletics Director Paul Fernandes will return as head baseball coach.
