A point that is sometimes forgotten when thinking about the infamous attacks of Sept. 11 is that the people who carried out those attacks were human beings, just like us. Human beings who could think, feel, act, and take responsibility for their actions.

The decision to venerate September 11th two years after its occurance is not a simple one. The day and its implications live simultaneously in both the past and the present. We must therefore be wary of the difference between 9/11 the political phenomenon, and September 11th, 2001, the day.
