After a power failure drained Uris Pool last Sunday, Athletics Director John Reeves said he was hopeful the pool would meet NCAA standards in time for the men's and women's swimming and diving team's meet Saturday against Army.
Today, that doesn't look likely.

The men's basketball team will play its first home Ivy League game of the season on Saturday, when it faces off with travel partner Cornell for the second straight week.

The fencing team will face their toughest meet of the season Sunday. However, the meet will not be against Ivy League foes. Rather, the team will fence scholarship powerhouses Ohio State and Notre Dame, the two best collegiate fencing programs in the country.

There were times at the beginning of the season when the women's basketball team showed flashes of dominance. Since December, things have changed. The team's last victory came over a month ago, when the Lions hosted Loyola-Chicago on Dec. 20, and the team has lost four-straight games.

If Et Cetera ran the world, Spectator would be less respectable, trusted, balanced, accurate, fair, and all the other qualities that mean "good" in newspaper language. However, we like to think that the front page, not to mention the journalistic world, just isn't ready for us yet.
