It would be easy to blame the poor attendance at Saturday's Community Festival on the rain. The thunderstorm right before the kickoff of the activities surely did not encourage neighborhood residents to rush over to College Walk and become walking lightning rods.

With two shutout wins over the weekend, the Lions took the Governor s Cup Tournament in Albany and extended their winning streak to five games, putting themselves in a strong position from which to enter their Ivy League season, which begins next Saturday against Cornell.

The field hockey team s road to serious Ivy contender status took a bit of a detour this weekend. Since last Friday s dominating win over Cornell, Columbia has lost three straight, and fallen to two games under .500 for an overall mark of 2-4.
