Although it didn't seem like either team wanted to, someone had to win. Five missed field goals, six collective turnovers, and 11 penalties made Columbia's 9-6 win over Dartmouth on Saturday an ugly one, but a much-needed source of vindication for the 1-5 Lions.

Saturday at Baker was a familiar story with a new ending. For most of this season, the Columbia defense has played well enough to win. The difference this weekend against Dartmouth was that they finally did.

After 11 straight match losses, the volleyball team seems to have fallen into a rut. With two 3-2 sweeps this weekend to Penn (20-30, 16-30, 21-30) and Princeton (22-30, 26-30, 22-30), the Light Blue continue to struggle with finding and establishing a rhythm in their play.
