Frequenters of local restaurants like myself experience the common plight of a lack of variation in cuisine. Sure, there exist derivations of Asian morsels, Italian delicacies, and American classics, but after three years, the neighborhood choices have become repetitive.

Chenin blanc, a woefully under-appreciated white, has managed to make something of an inroad into the States, but still has a ways to go. Once common across California— this was Robert Mondavi’s first pressing back in 1967—the grape has fallen behind its cousins chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.
