I wonder if white people know that they are white. Do they wake up in the morning and think, "Wow... I'm white"? When they sit in Lit Hum or CC, do they pay extra attention when they're reading a white author's works? Seriously, I'm just wondering.

This column began last weekend as a plan to improve Baker Blast. I started by asking around, getting a general feel for what other people wanted out of the home opener, and I thought I'd cleverly suggest it in my debut.

For head coach Bob Shoop, Saturday's home opener against Duquesne is somewhat of a mystery. Added to the schedule so that the Lions (1-0) did not have to face Patriot League foe Bucknell and its wishbone offense, Columbia has never played Duquesne.
