Following the departure of three players, the Columbia football program has been reduced from 89 to 86 players, leaving the 2008 recruiting class with 25 of its 31 original members.

Following a series of events unknown and unexpected by those outside the program, five veteran members of the Columbia softball team have quietly removed themselves from the roster this off–season.

Columbia has joined the big leagues. Well, sort of. Although the Lions will not be partaking of any non–conference match-ups against NBA or NFL teams this year, they can be heard alongside the professionals on Sirius Satellite Radio.

This year's Baker Blast, the football team's home opener on Sept. 25, drew a smaller-than-anticipated crowd to watch the Lions defeat Duquesne 23-13.

Building off of last week's overtime win over Quinnipiac, the Columbia field hockey team (5-6, 0-3 Ivy) hopes to snap a three-year losing streak against conference rival Penn (6-6, 1-2) tonight in Hempstead, N.Y. Penn won last year's contest 1-0 in double overtime.

After losing to the same two squads in the same weekend last year, the Columbia volleyball team (2-11, 0-3 Ivy) is battling against history as they prepare to host Penn (6-7, 3-0) tonight and Princeton (10-3, 2-1) on Saturday afternoon.
