Student council debates today

If you've been looking for an easy way to get more engaged on campus, if you're curious about all those campaign cover photos you've seen this past week, or if you're simply hoping for a way to procrastinate, it's your lucky day: Today CCSC and ESC are holding debates and candidates' forums for their spring 2014 elections. (And Wednesday, so is GSSC.) From 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. today, I will be co-moderating the debates along with Jeremy Meyers, CC '15 and chair of the Columbia Elections Board.

Here are all the details:

Sunday, March 30:

  • 3:30-4:15 p.m.: CCSC Executive Board in Satow Lerner
  • 4:15-5 p.m.: CCSC University Senate in Satow Lerner
  • 5-5:45 p.m.: CCSC Class of 2015 in Satow Lerner
  • 6-6:45 p.m.: CCSC Class of 2016 in 569 Lerner
  • 6:45-7:30 p.m.: CCSC Class of 2017 in 569 Lerner
  • 7:30-8:15 p.m.: CCSC At Large Reps in 569 Lerner
  • 8:30-9:30 p.m.: ESC Candidate Forum in 569 Lerner

Tuesday, April 1:

  • 7:30-8:30 p.m.: GSSC Debates in Satow Lerner

I know six hours of student council debates doesn't necessarily sound like a dream afternoon, but in case you need some extra motivation, pizza and beverages will be served. You might also come to hear about important issues that are going to affect you, to support a friend, or just because you want to talk about student council. And who knows, maybe you'll even be inspired.
