As long as I can remember, I’ve been a sports fan. One of my earliest memories is going to my first Phillies game at now-demolished Veterans Stadium. before I remember anything else. It's a passion that's never gone away, with my newest love being our teams here at Columbia. (I have probably been to more Columbia football and basketball games over the last two years than Roar-ee.) I am a Philadelphia fan - loving our teams to death when they win, and booing our teams out of the ballpark when they suck or, even worse, when they don’t seem to give a damn. And I am a Columbia fan - absolutely and positively certain that Lucy is going to pull the football away from us at the last second every time, yet still hopeful that one day we will finally kick that damn thing. In this column, I will work to translate my passion for sports and my identities as a Philly fan and a diehard Lion in a way that is entertaining, enlightening, and (occasionally) poignant.
