Today is a day that will surely live in infamy in the history of music at Columbia. CU's own 13-person, all-freshman hip-hop collective Bo$$ Status has just released "Bottles Bitch," a mixtape with a bitchin' 34 fresh rap songs. It's available to download for free on their aptly named site, Bo$$ Status Is The Future Of Hip Hop.
We suggest you put all 34 tracks, and nothing else, on your pregame playlist, but in case you want a little variety we asked Spec's own Kevin Roark, SEAS '15, a.k.a. "l8 bl00mer," who his greatest musical influences are. "I would say Danny Brown and Rick Ross are the biggest inspirations," he said. "First Song, Boom Boom Boom, and Paula Deen."
For further insight into the minds of these scholar-rappers, consult the following promo videos that Torsten Odland (a.k.a. T-Bullet) conducted with members Lexx & Average Sized Joe (Alex Curtis and Joe Bucciero, respectively), Slam Bone & Dexter (Sam Stevens and Dylan Kario, respectively), and Migraine (a.k.a. Michael Blair). Bo$$ Status' lineup is rounded out by Palmer Foote (a.k.a. Ray P), Miguel Gallego (a.k.a. Pizz), Cooper 'Coop' Mathieson, David 'Silb' Silberthau, Bijan 'Bij' Samareh, and, last but not least, Brian 'Brain' Thorn.
Stay tuned for more on this motley crew of MCs.
